About the producer
Lot 20 partners with coffee growers in Kenya's southern Rift Valley, specifically Kericho and Bomet counties. These passionate farmers strive to cultivate delicious coffee that reflects the region's unique characteristics.
Sourcing coffee transparently in Kenya is notoriously difficult. Lot 20, however, is taking a new approach. They are a Kenyan-owned company that oversees the entire process, from growing and processing the coffee beans to exporting them directly. Their commitment to transparency is evident in their documentation.
Lot 20 offers limited-edition coffees sourced from exceptional micro-lots. These micro-lots are known for their innovative farming practices that result in unique flavor profiles.
Though Kericho County boasts a long coffee history, with some of Kenya's first farms in Kipkelion and Fort Tenan, the region isn't as well-known as central Kenya due to bulk sales through national auctions and poorly managed cooperatives that leave farmers vulnerable. The coffee producer, Lot 20 is changing this by empowering Kericho and Bomet farmers to organize, process, and sell their coffee independently, ensuring fairer compensation for their high-quality beans.
This focus on quality and bypassing middlemen allows the unique characteristics of the region to shine through, resulting in coffee that boasts flavours of dried fruit, sweets, lime, and orange.
